Newt Gingrich

Newton Leroy "Newt" Gingrich (born June 17, 1943) is a politician in the United States. He was the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He is known for bringing in the "Republican Revolution" in the House because his political party, the Republican Party, or GOP, after 40 years of the Democratic Party dominating Congress. He is also an author, professor, and a historian. Since quitting the House, Gingrich has become a political analyst.

He is currently a candidate for the Republican Party's nomination for President of the United States in the 2012 Presidential election. He has currently won the South Carolina Republican primary.
