Citizendium
Citizendium (the citizen's compendium of everything) is a wiki encyclopedia project founded on October 23, 2006 by Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger. It went public on March 25, 2007. Citizendium was created to fix what were seen as problems with Wikipedia. It attempts to fix problems with the Wikipedia model which hinder accuracy, by requiring all contributors to register with their full real names and to make public their relevant credentials. It also attempts to provide a more mature editing atmosphere, compared to Wikipedia's. Citizendium started as a full fork of the English Wikipedia, until it was erroneously decided that people would be more motivated to start articles on their own, and all Wikipedia articles not locally worked on were deleted. It has never recovered from this disastrous decision.
