Bots are fully-automated, or semi-automated, computer scripts that do repetitive work which would be intensely boring, or time-consuming, to human users in the community. If a bot is "flagged", that means it has been placed in the Bots group to prevent it from flooding the list of recent changes.

[edit] Making a new bot
To make a new bot, you first need to write a computer script to perform a particular task. After that, you should create an account for your bot, preferably named after your username (or, alternatively, the purpose of the bot, if it is very specific) with the word "Bot" behind it. Ask an administrator to get it flagged.
