Invisible Man is a novel written by the American writer Ralph Ellison which addresses the subject of African-American identity among other themes. It was published in 1952 and won the National Book Award.[1] Initial reviews of the book were mixed and Ellison faced especially strong criticism from Black writers who felt the novel was too assimilationist.
