Description

Deutsch: Kerze und ihre Verbrennungszonen
In Zone 1 wird der Wachs verdampft. Da der Sauerstoff nicht genügend schnell hinein diffundiert liegen die Temperaturen bei 800 °C (Zone 1) bis 1000 °C (Zone 2). Die bläuliche Farbe entsteht durch Strahlungsübergänge angeregter Moleküle.
In Zone 3 zersetzen sich die Gase aus den unteren Zonen in Kohlenstoff und Wasserstoff. Verglühende Rußteilchen geben der Kerze das helle Leuchten.
Die Flammenoberfläche (Zone 4) die ist die aktivste Zone der Kerze. Die brennbaren Bestandteile aus dem Wachs finden genügend Sauerstoff für die vollständige Verbrennung und erzeugen hier Temperaturen bis zu 1400 °C. Quelle
