[edit] Note on WP version

I wrote large part of the WP version of this article and copied the part I wrote to CZ where I did some further amendments. I introduced the Stirling approximation rather early in the derivation. Some Wikipedian saw that it was not necessary at that point yet and cut it out from the WP version. This was good and I wanted to apply it too to the CZ version, but couldn't because the CZ article was approved and therefore untouchable. I applied the change here two days ago, after having done that, it occurred to me that the approximation was needed in the next section. Yesterday I introduced the approximation in the next section and rewrote the text around it. Today I checked WP to see if it was adapted there too, and no it wasn't, so that part of the WP article is unintelligible. This is typical for WP and I have seen it many times: somebody makes a local change or addition and does not bother to check the whole article for consistency. --Paul Wormer 00:38, 5 December 2010 (CST)
