Jimmy Wales is one of the co-founders alongside Larry Sanger of Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia anybody can edit. Before Wikipedia, Wales ran a site called Bomis which spawned Nupedia, a free online encyclopedia. He is still involved in the management of Wikipedia and also runs Wikia, a for-profit wiki company.
