A wiki is a network-based technology that allows content—particularly text—to be added, modified, and updated quickly by multiple users. The term "wiki" is short for wikiwikiweb and it is derived from the Hawaiian word wikiwiki, meaning "fast".[1] Most wikis are websites that allow users to add, alter, and remove material, usually through collaborative processes, with a low barrier to participation. A canonical example of a modern wiki is Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia.
